Sheffield United couple with ‘meme-coin’ for principal partnership

Sheffield United have announced a new principal partnership with a Solana-native cat coin.

Maneki, a self-acclaimed ‘meme-coin’, holds an agreement with the team until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Their aim is to turn the coin into a global household name, where it can be recognised by everyone everywhere.

This unique partnership will likely come as a surprise to most fans, as this is the company’s first British footballing partnership.

The collaboration has offered free printing services to anyone who wishes to have the sponsorship added to any current Sheffield United jerseys.

The sponsorship means that both home and away jerseys will be adorned with the Maneki Cat logo, which will be colour-matched to each jersey, while the third and goalkeeping kits will have a company name logo.

Fans have been left waiting for several months for the announcement of a new club sponsor after failing to confirm any deal over the summer break.

Previously, it had been speculated the lack of sponsorship could be linked to the ownership of the club changing hands. There has been no update about any potential takeover news.

Maneki, however, has previously secured a deal with Serie A champions SSC Napoli, as well as UFC champion Merab Dvalishvli.
