An England football team continues to progress in the Under 20 Elite League with a win against Czechia.
Despite losing players like Jobe Bellingham, through injury, and Dane Scarlett, through promotion to the under-21 squad, the under-20’s team swanned to a 3-0 victory, under the management of Paul Nevin.
Max Dean, the forward for Koninklijke Atletiek Associatie Gent, made the difference for Nevin’s men after scoring a double, narrowly missing out on the match ball after a missed penalty, at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Dean has appeared several times this season for Belgian Pro League contenders Gent, both in the league and in the Europa Conference League.
Kaide Gordon also showed up on the scoresheet after several impressive goals for Norwich this season whilst on loan from Liverpool.
The U-20 side continued their strong start to the Elite League team, notching up their third consecutive win, extending their unbeaten run to four and placing them in the lead.
The Czechia team currently sit seventh in their group consisting of England, Portugal, Italy and Germany.
The line-up also included Tobias Collyer, Ashley Phillips and Will Lankshear, all of Premier academies and looking to make a claim to step up to the under-21s.
Nevin will likely look to impress in his new role while filling in for Lee Carsely, interim England manager.
England will be looking onwards to their next camp, where they will play against Germany and Poland on the 15th and 19th of November, respectively.
This is the Eco-Power’s second Elite League fixture, with the prior being a 3-0 loss to Italy in November 2023.
