South Yorkshire Police have released a man previously arrested in connection with the tragic death of Adam Johnson on bail until January 20, 2025.
The incident led to a drawn-out investigation by Detective Chief Inspector Benjamin Wood.
Detective Chief Inspector Wood said: “We have been working meticulously to fully understand the unprecedented circumstances in which Adam sadly lost his life.”
This individual was initially arrested in November on suspicion of manslaughter. The decision to re-bail him comes as authorities continue their investigation into Johnson’s untimely passing.
Adam Johnson, a 29-year-old ice hockey player for the Nottingham Panthers. Johnson suffered a fatal injury during a game against the Sheffield Steelers on October 28, 2023.
Johnson was involved in an on-ice incident at the Utilita Arena, which led to his tragic death. His passing sent shockwaves through the ice hockey community.
Detective Chief Inspector Wood reiterated to the public that the investigation remains a top priority despite the lengthy nature of the case.
“Our thoughts remain wholeheartedly with Adam’s family at this time.” However, Wood also emphasised the support extended to Johnson’s grieving loved ones.
