A man tragically died following a fatal hit-and-run incident in Sheffield yesterday evening.
The police were called to Gleadless Road at around 8:30 pm last night after reports of an incident.
Investigators believed a dark-coloured Volkswagen was involved in the collision. It was said to have not stopped at the scene.
Police have been working diligently to gather more information.
The man found at the scene was believed to be in his 40s.
South Yorkshire police released a statement and said: “Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.”
Police have asked for any witnesses or those who may have recordings, such as dashcam footage of the collision.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area, with trams being stopped on Gleadless Road and Ridgeway Road.
Despite the fatal accident, the roads have now been reopened with trams continuing to run.
