A disappointing weekend for South Yorkshire football saw only two of the five EFL clubs pick up wins in the league.

Sheffield Wednesday fell to high-flying Burnley, led by Championship specialist Scott Parker. Two 2-0 losses at Hillsborough marked their fifth loss of the season.

Overall, the Owls fans will be disappointed not to get more from this game after having many chances but being entirely unable to convert.

Sheffield United travelled to Ellen Lane on Friday evening to compete against Leeds, a favourite in the fixtures, and thoroughly deserved their 3 points.

The Lily Whites completely outclassed Sheffield United, who could not aid their hunt for the title after a very lacklustre performance.

Blades fans will look to Kieffer Moore, who had a very poor game, not scoring and overall struggling to impact the game.

Barnsley were one of the few winners this weekend in a tidy 2-1 win away at Blackpool. Both experienced centre-half Marc Roberts and Davis Keillor-Dunn contributed to the win.

The Tykes will hope to use the result to mount a more consistent challenge for not only the playoffs but potentially the title. They reduce the gap to the top to only 7 points.

Rotherham hosted Hollywood-owned Wrexham this week and found themselves stunned early on. Serial bagsman Paul Mullin scored the only goal of the game in the opening minute.

Manager Steve Evans will certainly be feeling the pressure after sitting 16th after twelve games in League One.

Doncaster are the final winners of the week, with a 94th-minute penalty seeing the side extend their unbeaten run to four away at Swindon.

Joe Ironside was the man of the moment as he converted the penalty, coupled with a 58th-minute header from Joseph Olowu.

Doncaster continued their assault for the title, but they were unable to shorten the gap, with Port Vale continuing their form to maintain their point lead.
