Emergency services and hazardous response units were called to the scene on Barnsley Road in the early hours of the morning.

Authorities reported that an individual had to be transported to Northern General Hospital for immediate medical attention at approximately 12:35 am.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called to a road traffic collision on Barnsley Road at 12.35am today.

“It is reported that two lorries were involved in a collision.”

The accident occurred after a lorry crashed on Barnsley Road, resulting in a temporary road closure between the junction with Blacksmith Lane and Redhill Lane.

South Yorkshire Ambulance services have dispatched two emergency vehicles, as well as a critical care paramedic and a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) to the area.

HART is a specialised unit within the emergency medical services trained to operate in hazardous environments.

These teams are equipped to handle scenarios such as chemical spills, confined space rescues, and incidents involving dangerous materials such as fire.

Authorities have not disclosed further details about the cause of the incident, but the situation is now resolved, and the road has been reopened. Only bus routes have been diverted after the closure.
