The One Direction star passed away yesterday after a fall from a third floor balcony says officials.

Local authorities reported that they were called to the scene by a 911 call reporting an aggressive man.

It has not been said whether drugs or alcohol were involved, but the singer was posting on social media just hours before the tragedy.

Alberto Crescenti told Argentina’s TN network that there was “no possibility of doing anything” to save the singer. 

“According to what the team saw, he had a fracture at the base of the skull. Very serious injuries,” he said. 

The One Direction star’s family has released a statement through his spokeswoman saying:  “Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.

“We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.”

Payne was a father to a son named Bear, who he had with ex-partner and X-Factor judge Cheryl Cole.
