Thankfully, Radiance is here to clear the rumours.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We spoke to Emily Britten, award winning skincare expert from Kent, who has told us her personal experience with dermaplaning from an experts point of view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLiterally the second I walked out the door, I remember it so clearly, it was a really windy day and the wind was blowing in my face.\u201d Emily says. \u201cMy face was on fire.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She says: \u201cI&#8217;ve never experienced sensitive skin throughout my life and it was like that for about three weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First of all, let\u2019s start off with what dermaplaning actually is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a sterile blade that removes your peach fuzz hair and the first layer of your skin.\u201d Emily says. \u201cIt&#8217;s bad because we need our skin&#8217;s top layer, so if you remove it you are exposing it\u00a0 to sensitivity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"tiktok-embed\" cite=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@emilybrittenskin\/video\/7268943606130412832\" data-video-id=\"7268943606130412832\" data-embed-from=\"oembed\" style=\"max-width:605px; min-width:325px;\"> <section> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"@emilybrittenskin\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@emilybrittenskin?refer=embed\">@emilybrittenskin<\/a> <p>stop dermaplaning your skin <\/p> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"\u266c snowfall - \u00d8neheart &#038; reidenshi\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/music\/snowfall-7043672073613936641?refer=embed\">\u266c snowfall &#8211; \u00d8neheart &#038; reidenshi<\/a> <\/section> <\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/embed.js\"><\/script>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Emily Britten TikTok<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The reason behind dermaplaning&#8217;s surge in popularity is down to people claiming it helps products be absorbed easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emily sets the rumours at bay. \u201cIt doesn&#8217;t help products penetrate better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Emily, product absorption is based on the product&#8217;s delivery system. For&nbsp; example, an SPF is made to sit on top of your first skin barrier and not be absorbed, whereas a serum is created to be able to penetrate deeper into your skin barrier and that will happen with or without hair being there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, we may be debunking myths but we also respect why people may want to go ahead with dermaplaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you are really worried about your peach fuzz or you maybe have thicker facial hair it might be worth considering other options; like waxing or threading, instead taking a \u2018feral\u2019 blade to your face\u201d Emily says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>READ MORE: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/radiancemag.co.uk\/2025\/05\/02\/shaving-and-skincare-after-shaving\/\">Shaving and Skincare After Shaving &#8211; Radiance<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dermaplaning is big on TikTok.
