Sucre, the constitutional capital of Bolivia, is a city located in the south-central part of the country, Often referred to as ‘La Ciudad Blanca‘ or ‘The White City’ due to its well-preserved, whitewashed colonial buildings, Sucre is of predominantly Quechua background, with some Aymara communities and influences.

The architectural heritage and the ancient history of the Charcas region have earned Sucre its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city has played a significant role in Bolivian history, initially as a crucial center in the Real Audiencia de Charcas and later as the first capital of Bolivia, until the decline of silver’s global importance as a mineral commodity.
