WARNING EXTREME EXPLICIT CONTENT
Our readers haven’t stopped having dirty dreams, so we’re back with more scandal-ridden dreams for you to sink your teeth into.
But before that, I’m sure you’ve all been wondering what sex dreams are. Why do we have them? And the most critical question … What do they mean?
We spoke to dream analyst and therapist Jane Theresa Anderson to unpick the filthiest of dreams.
“Dreams are the experiences we have when our mind and brain are processing our recent experiences – both conscious and unconscious,” says Jane. “Our dreams are not literal, though. They are symbolic and often quite surreal because they reflect your unconscious mind, which ‘speaks’ in symbols and metaphors.
Jane says that for some people, sex dreams occur because the dreamer’s body is primed for sex: the hormone levels peak during sleep, and the dreams try to incorporate this experience.
However, sometimes, sex dreams occur in the absence of a hormonal trigger. Jane says, “In a sex dream you’re intimate with someone. If you’re having sex with someone you think of as “outspoken”, for example, ask yourself if you’re becoming more outspoken in life: are you getting more intimate with a part of yourself that is ready to be more outspoken? Look at the people in your dreams as representing a part of yourself – sometimes a more unconscious part of yourself.”
So, your dreaming mind chooses people as symbols to represent parts of yourself. If you’re processing recent experiences about personal power, for example, your dreaming mind might choose a celebrity (or boss, or work colleague) that you see as having strong personal power. Dreaming about sex with that person might reflect how you’re feeling about your power.
So, bearing all that in mind, let’s dive into our new portfolio of sex dreams. What on earth could they mean?
“Two years ago, for three months, I kept having vivid dreams of being dry-humped by Jack Nicholson in a bathroom in LA.” – Anonymous.
“I had a dream that a robber broke into my family home, and when I saw him, I offered him a cup of tea to distract him as I didn’t want him to steal my jellycats. To cut a long story short, we ended up having sex on my sofa.” – Anonymous
“My maddest dream was that my telly had broken, so I called Virgin Media, the guy turned up, and it was Steven Graham. Next thing I knew, we were heading up to my bedroom, where I had potentially the best sex of my life. It was great. I woke up in a hot flush.” – Anonymous.
“The dream started as a dream where I thought I was in an episode of Black Mirror. I can’t explain how, I just knew I was there. There was something to do with uploading my consciousness, and in this ‘simulation’, I was having sex with someone, which is odd because that was all within a dream. I recall thinking that I knew it wasn’t real, as it was technically a simulation. I woke up because I got taken out of the simulation, I was confused as sh*t but it was a fun experience.” – Anonymous.
