Hospitals belonging to the Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust will become the first in the country to trial a ‘pioneering’ urine testing machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The machine will be used to check urine samples from women and test them from Urinary Tract Infections, or UTIS. Test results will be returned to doctors within an hour, along with reccomedations for relevevant antibiotics which can be used in treatement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pinderfields and Dewsbury & District Hospital will both trial the equipment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stuart Bond, Director of Innovation and Consultant antimicrobial pharmacist at the Trust, said: “We\u2019re excited to see how this innovation streamlines patient flow and improves the experience for people attending our Emergency Departments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Faster diagnosis means quicker treatment, shorter stays, and a potential reduction in avoidable admissions”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is hoped that the new technology can ‘provide accurate and more accurate results’, alongside reducing waiting times and stress levels for patients in hospitals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new tests will not replace old diagnosis procedures until after the trial period is over.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
