In celebration of Black History Month, Black Owned Sheffield brought 12 diverse stalls this Sunday, offering items from artwork, to fashion and beauty to Kelham Island’s Cutlery Works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Starting at 12pm the event saw stalls offering items such as hair-care products, food seasonings and jewellery, alongside face painting for kids and a chance to try rug tufting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event also saw sets from local DJs and performers, including 90’s RnB covers from Anarla-la’vay and traditional Afro-Brazilian martial art from Capoeira Angola Sheffield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An important part of the event, founders Asha and Rakaia say, is honouring the community by placing a focus on engaging on traders who otherwise, many not have physical store to promote their wares and services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Conceived during the height of Black Lives Matter, and returning after a three-year-long break, Black Owned Sheffield was created to spotlight local black-owned businesses and connect with underrepresented communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
