Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
The Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (hcmf\/\/) returns this week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ten day will kick off on the 21st of November at Huddersfield Town Hall and will feature over 50 events, such as performers, installations and workshops. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sarah Hennies is the Composer in residence for this year\u2019s festival, and will be joined by other composers, including Bryn Harrison and Rytis Ma\u017eulis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the 48th edition of the UK\u2019s largest international contemporary music festival, having started in 1978, and held in multiple venues throughout Huddersfield, such as Huddersfield Town Hall, Lawrence Batley theatre, and St Paul\u2019s Hall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the first year of hmmf\/\/ ‘s three-year partnership with the Estonian Centre of Contemporary Music, following other partnerships with Music Finland, Culture Ireland, and Music Information Centre Lithuania, and aims to give Estonian musicians the opportunity to perform and make connections in the UK. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Light Up Wakefield. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n“Ship of the Gods” By Heinrich and Palmer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Wakefield City Centre will be lit up on the 21st to the 23rd of November with the arrival of the Light Trail festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the Christmas lights switch-on at 5:30pm this Friday, the Wakefield District will be illuminated with the Lantern Parade starting on Brook Street before making its way up to Coronation Gardens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the Wakefield District will be illuminated with a series of light art installations, such as the \u201cShip of the Gods\u201d by artists Heinrich & Palmer. Hosted by the Wakefield Exchange, 3D laser scanning technology, film, sound and lighting effects are all used to reimagine Skidbladnir: the shape-shifting Norse vessel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other light art installations that will be on display in Wakefield City Centre over the weekend include \u201cWandering\u201d by Amelia Kosminsky: which uses photographs from local archives, and \u201cMarble\u201d by Gertjan Adema: a giant rotating marble run lit up by LEDs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The latest edition to the Light Trail is the interactive light exhibit \u201cLet\u2019s Draw\u201d where members of the public can draw on building faces using their phones. Powered by projectors, County Hall will be lit up by a giant mural. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hans Zimmer will be at First Direct Arena in Leeds this Sunday for the next stop of his World Tour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leeds marks the first UK stop on Hans Zimmer\u2019s new tour, \u201cThe Next Level,\u201d ahead of dates in Glasgow, London and Manchester. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The production is set to push boundaries with its cutting-edge electronic soundscapes and lighting. Zimmer, a multiple Oscar and Grammy winner, will be accompanied by a full orchestra as well as immersive synth and electronic layers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zimmer will perform pieces from the over 150 films he\u2019s scored, such as The Dark Knight trilogy, Gladiator, and No Time to Die.
