We cannot begin to imagine the depth of their loss and our deepest sympathies go out to them today and every day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHarvey was a popular, energetic and fun-loving pupil who is dearly missed every day by the whole School community.\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This echoes a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notredame-high.co.uk\/uncategorized\/following-the-tragic-death-of-harvey-willgoose-a-student-at-all-saints-catholic-high-school-sheffield-a-statement-from-steve-davies-ceo-bishop-ralph-and-fr-mark-mcmanus\">statement<\/a> made by Notre Dame High School back in February, in which the Bishop of Hallam, Bishop Ralph Heskett, offered his blessings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur prayers, and those of every parish and school, are with Harvey, his parents, family, and friends for a young life lost. The arch reportedly cost around \u00a32,500, according to the Principal, Peter Crook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Knife arches are rectangular metal detectors aimed at deterring and seizing those with dangerous weapons. It\u2019s an idea that Harvey&#8217;s family have been so insistent on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/schools-must-be-brave-enough-to-talk-about-knives-as-harvey-willgooses-killer-is-sentenced-13454846\">told Sky News<\/a> that they wished to see them in \u201call secondary schools and colleges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>South Yorkshire has been recorded as the area with the 3rd highest knife related offences in the country, with 10.72 offences per 10,000 residents.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/schools-must-be-brave-enough-to-talk-about-knives-as-harvey-willgooses-killer-is-sentenced-13454846\">statistics<\/a> extend to offences committed by children; over the last three years, there\u2019s been over 100 instances of knives reported in schools across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Willgoose family hope that Harvey\u2019s legacy will help drive lasting change in how schools and communities tackle knife crime.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the wake of yesterday&#8217;s sentencing of Harvey Willgoose\u2019s killer, the school in which he attended have released a statement.
