An estimated 10.6% of people in England and Wales were victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault, or stalking in the year ending March 2025 according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). ONS data shows 72.5% of victims of domestic abuse related crimes are women. The number of cases reported across Yorkshire reflects this national increase.

Yorkshire Water reported its rivers were polluted for a total of over 430,000 hours in 2024. This is the total time sewage spilled from every monitored overflow. That is more than 49 years of sewage dumping in a single year. In 2023 the total was even higher
