The City of Doncaster has received a welcome £116,000 grant to fund key protection and enhancement plans for the Grade I listed building, Cusworth Hall and Park.

75 local and regional museums will share the £20 million Museum Renewal Fund, aimed at improving access to museums and collections, in addition to helping ensure museums across the country remain fit for the future.

Councillor David Nevett, Cabinet Member for Adults, Wellbeing and Culture, said: “We’re delighted with the news that Doncaster has received support from the Museum Renewal Fund which will further boost all the wonderful work of our dedicated staff and volunteers to celebrate and share our rich heritage with residents, visitors and future generations.

“This vital funding will strengthen the site’s position as a popular visitor attraction in Doncaster by enabling us to plan an exciting programme of events and activities throughout the year, expanding volunteering opportunities and exploring future possibilities for the Bothy, one of the oldest buildings in the Park.

“We’re looking forward to sharing our plans so please watch this space for updates in the new year.”
