Humberside Police have launched an investigation after threatening messages were sent to students of John Whitgift Academy in Grimsby.
The messages were reportedly sent via a social media platform on Saturday 11 October, 2025.
Officers report that a 13-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of sending communications containing threats to kill or cause serious harm.
She has since been released on bail, as officers continue the investigation.
Neighbourhood Policing Chief Inspector Alasdair Booth said: “Due to the nature of the messages, we are thoroughly investigating, and officers are working closely with the school to determine the full circumstances surrounding the report.
“I understand the concern and alarm this will have caused parents, pupils and the local community. However, at this stage, I would like to offer my reassurance that we have found no evidence to suggest the threat is credible or that there is any viable risk to the school or its students.
“There will be an increased police presence at the school and in the surrounding area to provide reassurance and anyone with any concerns is encouraged to come and speak to us.”
Anyone with information relating to the investigation is told to contact Humberside Police via 101, quoting log 278 of 11 October.
