The campaign aims to encourage reading by tapping into the ‘BookTok’ craze seen on social media.
360Wire is proud to announce the launch of its reading campaign, targeting teens in Sheffield, today.
Bringing online BookTok, the TikTok subcommunity popular among fans of young adult fiction and romance novels, to a real, physical place, they aim to promote reading levels in Sheffield’s young adults.
According to Learn Sheffield, in a city where reading levels fall below national averages and a quarter of Year 7 pupils start secondary school below expected standards, the campaign aims to highlight the enjoyment of reading.
To conclude the campaign, the team aims to arrange a book swap among teenagers in Sheffield, creating a fun, enjoyable reason to share books.
This campaign comes as the UK government has set a date for a blanket ban on social media for under-16s, coming into effect in March 2027.
Over 100,000 teenagers will be restricted from platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, where teens can interact and find books aligned with their personal interests through the BookTok community.
Those thousands of teens, the campaign team says, need this physical space to encourage reading after the ban.
