Motorists across South Yorkshire have been warned to take extra care as Storm Boelo brings strong winds to the region.
National Highways has issued an amber severe weather alert for strong winds on parts of the strategic road network from 12.01am until 4pm on Sunday, October 25.
Routes highlighted include the M1 around Tinsley Viaduct at junction 34, the M1 between junctions 39 and 40, and the A628 Woodhead Pass.
Exposed sections of the M62 are also among the routes identified as vulnerable to the conditions.
National Highways warned that powerful gusts could cause falling branches and trees, as well as wind-blown debris, creating hazards for drivers.
Drivers of high-sided vehicles, caravans and motorcycles are being advised to take extra care and avoid particularly exposed routes where possible.
The amber alert relates specifically to the strategic road network and is separate from the Met Office’s weather warning system.
Motorists are advised to check conditions before setting off and allow extra time for their journeys.
