Tributes are pouring in from the family and loved ones of William Chapman, the man killed on Saturday at Yorkshire Wildlife Park after entering a tiger enclosure.
In a statement, Mr Chapman’s family described him as “bright, warm and engaging,” and confirmed he had struggled with “significant mental illness over the years.”
They went onto say they were “utterly devastated by their loss and are struggling to come to terms with what has happened.
“The publication and circulation of deeply offensive media content is causing them severe distress at an exceptionally vulnerable time. We ask people to stop doing this.
“The family are hopeful that the relevant authorities will do their upmost to get to the bottom of why our amazing son did what he did.”
The statement also added that Mr Chapman had been prescribed “strong medication” to treat his mental illness, and that they were awaiting the coroner’s verdict to determine what caused the tragic incident.
Following confirmations that Mr Chapman was a former child actor, his former stage school has also shared a tribute on social media.

Jackie Palmer Stage School, located in High Wycombe, said they were “deeply saddened” by the passing of their former student.
They continued: “Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with William’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
“We loved watching William grow, both as a person and as a performer, during his time with us. It was a privilege to be part of his journey, and he will be remembered with great fondness by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.”
The stage school also shared two new images of William, one of which shows him as a student.
