Sheffield Wednesday FC backs Paws for a Cause campaign

Sheffield Wednesday have backed Paws for a Cause, a campaign supporting the Sheffield charity Support Dogs.

The club’s support follows years of community involvement through the Sheffield Wednesday FC Community Programme, which promotes inclusion, mental wellbeing and social development across the city.

A spokesperson for the club said: “Support Dogs are a wonderful charity and we had the pleasure of seeing them in action many times at our annual event, Owls in the Park.

“Their work is vital and life-changing for so many people, and seeing their demonstrations in person was nothing short of inspiring.”

Support Dogs have been regular guests at Sheffield Wednesday’s annual community festival Owls in the Park, where thousands of fans have watched the charity’s live demonstrations.

The club continues to work with local charities, supports youth projects and runs initiatives for people with disabilities and those with special educational needs.

Support Dogs have also taken part in wider community events across Sheffield. In October 2025, students from Sheffield United Community College completed a 30-mile fundraising walk on behalf of the charity.

The route passed several South Yorkshire football stadiums, including Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough Stadium.

The 360Wire-backed campaign aims to raise £1,000 for 10 autistic children to meet a support dog, secure 15 sponsors for autism assistance dog Peggy, and have 10 people register interest as puppy socialisers.
