East Riding of Yorkshire Council are set to host an event aimed at ending men’s violence against women and girls on Wednesday 10 December at Bridlington Spa.
Named ‘East Riding Speaks Up’, the gathering is being held under the banner of the White Ribbon Campaign, a global initiative urging everyone, including men to speak out and take action against violence.
The day will bring together individuals, organisations and service providers to amplify voices, ‘share lived experiences and inspire action’.
One keynote speaker will be Lisa Squire, the mother of murdered student Libby Squire and founder of Libby’s Legacy and the ‘It Does Matter’ campaign.
There will also be a marketplace of stalls and other networking sessions, including speakers engaging specifically with men and boys.
Councillor Lyn Healing, East Riding of Yorkshire Council cabinet member for communities and public protection said “This is a fantastic event to bring the community together for this vital cause. I encourage residents to find out more and attend the event, – so that together we can create a world where women and girls are safe, equal, and respected.”
