British Transport Police appeal for witnesses following a sexual assault on a train

Officers investigating a sexual assault on a train from Sheffield to Hull are appealing for witnesses. 

The incident occurred between 9 and 9:45pm on Sunday 21st September. A man sat next to a woman on the train, before proceeding to make inappropriate comments towards her, and then sexually assaulting her.

The incident was reported to a conductor by a member of the public, who passed it onto the British Transport Police. 

Officers met the train at Hull Paragon Interchange, where they arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of assault, who was then bailed. 

Officers say many of the public witnessed the incident, and how uncomfortable the woman was, and urge anyone who has information to come forward.
