Former North Yorkshire councillor, Pat Marsh, is facing prosecution for allegedly sharing antisemitic social media posts.

The 77-year-old has been charged with displaying threatening, abusive or insulting written material with intent to or likely to stir up racial hatred.

The social media posts were shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, between January 22 and February 18 last year.

North Yorkshire Police launched an investigation after the social media posts were reported or flagged by members of the public.

Ms Marsh represented the Stray, Woodlands and Hookstone division in Harrogate and was suspended from the Liberal Democrats before later resigning from her role.

Ms Marsh has denied that her comments were antisemitic.

The former councillor is due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court on 6 November 2025.
