There were no major incidents across West Yorkshire over Halloween as the police thank the public for their support.
There were a total of 1,924 calls to 999, between the hours of 6:00am yesterday (Friday 31 October) and 6:00am today (Saturday 1 November), an increase on the 1,778 calls last year.
The force also received 1,584 calls on the non emergency number 101, compared to 1,851 last year.
These figures include all calls made over the last 24 hours, not just Halloween specific ones. A large proportion of the calls were made around the misuse of fireworks.
Assistant Chief Constable Damien Miller, Gold Commander for West Yorkshire Police’s Halloween and Bonfire Night operation, said: “I am pleased that the majority of people in West Yorkshire celebrated Halloween safely and responsibly.
“We will continue to have an increased visible presence in our communities over the coming days as we move towards Bonfire night, which we expect to be similarly busy.
“I would again ask people to bear this in mind when contacting us. Please use our online contact options for non-emergencies where possible, and only use 999 where there is a threat to life or a crime is ongoing.”
