Staff at Humberside Fire and Rescue have raised £23,161 so far this year for The Fire Fighters Charity.
The charity provides physical, mental health and wellbeing support to serving and retired members of the fire and rescue community, including their families.
Chief Fire Officer, Phil Shillito said, “We’re incredibly proud of everyone who has played a part in raising this fantastic amount for The Fire Fighters Charity.
“Whether through open days, community events, or personal challenges, our teams have gone above and beyond to give back to a cause that means so much to us all.”
An array of open days across the region has contributed massively to the amount raised.
These include; Brough Fire Station which raised £1220, Scunthorpe Fire Station adding £1114 and Calvert lane Fire Station which raised £1442.
These are amongst many others across the region that took part in raising money.
Other events took place to help raise money alongside the open days like Beverley Fire station, which took part in a 10k run and raised £979.
Barton Fire Station raised £319 through a charity bike night.
It was the great effort across all services that resulted in such a significant figure being raised.
Individual members of staff took on their own challenges, which included taking part in an ultra marathon resulting in £715 raised.
The Fire Fighters Charity relies solely on donations to continue offering its services, and with more fundraising still to come, the final total is expected to rise even further.
