Sheffield city centre is about to come alive this weekend as the Out of This World festival returns on Sunday, bringing together sci-fi, fantasy, comic book, gaming and Halloween themes across the city’s most iconic spaces.
Celebrating its 11th year, the festival transforms the city into a celebration of imagination and creativity while attracting thousands of visitors from across the region, according to the Sheffield City Council.
Councillor Mohammed Mahroof, Chair of the Economic Development, Skills and Cultural Committee, said: “Events like Out of This World not only bring our communities together to celebrate joyous occasions, but they also support our local businesses, performers and cultural organisations.”
From 10.30 am to 5.30 pm, families can participate in street entertainment, live demonstrations, fancy dress competitions, family workshops, fairground rides, and street food stalls across Sheffield’s most iconic spaces.
The Winter Garden, Tudor Square and Peace Gardens will once again host the ever-popular sci-fi, comic book, gaming and fantasy areas, while the Halloween Zone will spread its spooky magic across Town Hall Square, the Peace Gardens, Pinstone and Surrey Street.
At Millennium Square and the Peace Gardens, guests will be able to step into a world of magic and illusion, with some of the UK’s best magicians and illusionists performing throughout the day.
Throughout the day, cars will be restricted from accessing Norfolk Street, Norfolk Row, Tudor Street, Surrey Street, Pinstone Street and Fargate.
