A bullet was found inside a Sheffield family home after a suspected gunman opened fire while a young woman was inside.
Armed police were called to Hyde Park Terrace at around 9pm on Saturday, October 24, following reports of a suspected firearm discharge.
Officers found evidence consistent with a gunshot, including a bullet inside the property, South Yorkshire Police said.
The woman was not injured in the incident.
A police cordon remained in place on Sunday as officers continued their investigation. No arrests have been made.
Detective Chief Inspector Scott Harrison condemned the shooting, saying a family home had been targeted while someone was inside.
He said: “A family home has been shot at on a usual Saturday, while a young woman was at home enjoying her evening. This is frankly appalling.”
He added: “We have a dedicated team of officers working around the clock to find those responsible.”
Officers are carrying out inquiries in the area and have appealed for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone who can help the investigation should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 or report information online, quoting incident number 968 of October 24, 2026.
