Ice rink returns to Sheffield city centre as Christmas celebrations are announced
14 October 2026

Sheffield Christmas markets will open on Thursday 12 November, with an artificial ice rink returning for the first time in over a decade, alongside festive stalls and entertainment.

Over 50 market cabins will line Fargate, Pinstone Street and The Moor, with more than 80% of traders being local businesses.

A snow slide on Surrey Street will also accompany the artificial ice rink in Tudor Square.

The opening weekend, taking place on 14 and 15 November, will feature live music, street entertainment and children’s activities, with a free ticketed Christmas lights event at Devonshire Green on the Sunday.

Councillor Ben Miskell, the chair of the Economic, Skills and Culture Committee, said: “Christmas in Sheffield is always special, but this year we’re making it bigger, brighter and better than ever.”

The Christmas celebrations will continue throughout November and December and into January.
