Historic Sheffield nightclub Niche set to make a comeback
13 October 2026

Niche originally opened in a derelict former cutlery warehouse on Sidney Street in 1992. It closed in 2018, but now a new team has taken over the iconic club.

The underground club, Niche, is widely recognised as the birthplace of bassline music, growing from a small underground venue to become one of the biggest influences on UK club culture.

The club closed in 2018 following several issues surrounding drugs and violence, while the original Sidney Street venue had permanently shut down in 2005 following a high-profile police raid.

There were numerous subsequent attempts to revive the club at other venues, including Wicker Arches, but none were successful, ultimately leading to its closure in 2018.

The 2026 revival is under entirely new management, who aim to prioritise safety and distance the club from its troubled past.

The first relaunch event will take place at Network in Sheffield on Saturday 17 October.
