Yorkshire Wildlife Park remains closed following fatal tiger attack on Saturday
12 October 2026

Yorkshire Wildlife Park has remained closed for a third day following the death of a man who entered a tiger enclosure on Saturday afternoon.

The attraction, located just outside of Doncaster, issued a statement on their website saying that they are “working closely with the authorities to ascertain exactly what happened,” and that the safety of their staff and animals remain their “highest priority.”

The tragic incident took place on Saturday 10 October, with emergency services being called to the scene at 1.35pm. Despite best efforts from medical professionals, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man has not been named. South Yorkshire Police have urged the public not to share footage from the incident circulating on social media, as the incident continues to spark debate online.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park confirmed in a social media statement yesterday that the rare Amur tiger involved in the incident, named Altai, will not be euthanised.

They also said that staff, who were “deeply affected,” are receiving “specialist support,” and shared thoughts and sympathies for “the family and loved ones of the man who sadly lost his life.”

Further updates will be provided by 360Wire as they continue to emerge.
