Bestselling author, broadcaster and celebrated hill farmer Amanda Owen, widely known as the Yorkshire Shepherdess, has backed Paws for a Cause, a campaign supporting the charity Support Dogs.
Ms Owen said: “I am honoured to lend my support to this wonderful Paws for a Cause initiative.
“Throughout life on the farm at Ravenseat, I have seen first-hand how much comfort, companionship, and calm a loyal dog can bring, whether working alongside the sheep on a windy moor or simply being a steady friend at the end of a long day.”
Ms Owen has spent more than twenty years farming at Ravenseat, a 2,000-acre hill farm in North Yorkshire, where she has raised nine children while managing flocks of Swaledale sheep across remote upland terrain.
Her family’s television series, Our Yorkshire Farm, regularly attracted audiences of more than three million in the United Kingdom and aired in more than twenty countries worldwide.
Her most recent series, Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids, became More4’s highest-rating programme of 2024, with its second series airing to critical acclaim.
Ms Owen is also an accomplished author, having written five Sunday Times bestselling books.
Her newest book, Christmas Tales from the Farm, is a collection of festive short stories for children inspired by real-life family adventures on her 2,000-acre hill farm.
She introduced the title at her recent book launch, where she spoke about winter traditions at Ravenseat, from barn owls seeking shelter to icy games of “hide and sheep” with her sheepdog Kate.

Ms Owen added: “Animals teach us kindness, resilience and unconditional love, and support dogs have a remarkable role in offering stability and joy, especially to those who need it most
“I am proud to stand behind a campaign that recognises and celebrates the deep connection between people and their four-legged friends.”
The 360Wire-backed campaign aims to raise £1,000 for ten autistic children to meet a support dog, secure fifteen sponsors for autism assistance dog Peggy and have ten people register interest as puppy socialisers.
