Burton Street Foundation backs Paws for a Cause

A disability service committed to inclusivity has backed Paws for a Cause, a campaign in aid of the charity Support Dogs

Burton Street Foundation (BSF), located in Sheffield, provides community resources to remove barriers for and empower disabled people.

James Wān, Marketing Lead at BSF, said: “The work that Support Dogs carries out, and the goals of the Paws for a Cause campaign, align with our mission to champion people with disabilities.

“We’re pleased to support any effort that expands access to life-changing assistance for those who need it most.”

BSF aims to promote independence by providing tailored services that foster self-confidence, self-expression, and communication.

Several workshops and seasonal events are organised to help attendees take part in skill-building exercises and ‘better engage with the world around them’.

The foundation also offers a range of free resources, including phone apps, to ensure disabled clients receive consistent support.

Mr Wān said: “Everyone deserves the opportunity to access the tools they need to take control of their lives and so become happier and more fulfilled individuals.

“The coverage produced through this campaign helps build empathy by encouraging people to listen and understand the lives of people with disabilities.”

Support Dogs, which provides assistance dogs for adults with physical disabilities and epilepsy, as well as autistic children, is facing a growing waiting list crisis.

Paws for a Cause aims to address the issue by raising £1,000 for 10 autistic children to meet their support dogs, securing 15 sponsors for autism assistance dog Peggy, and getting 10 registrations of interest to become puppy socialisers.

Mr Wān added: “An equal society begins with empathy, and campaigns like this play an important role in driving meaningful change. We encourage anyone able to donate, raise awareness or volunteer!”
