Shirley Ballas backs Paws for a Cause campaign

Shirley Ballas, best known as head judge on BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing, has backed the Paws for a Cause campaign, calling the work of charity Support Dogs ‘life-changing.’

Ms Ballas said: “I am so happy to support the ‘Paws for a Cause’ campaign. Meeting support dogs for the first time can be life-changing for autistic children, from feeling a dog’s gentle nuzzle to experiencing the comfort and companionship they bring.

“I know from my own dog Charlie, who is my beloved pet, just how much joy and comfort a dog can provide, and I hope this campaign helps more children experience that same special connection.”

A champion ballroom dancer, Ms Ballas is a three-time British Open to the World Latin American champion, ten-time United States Latin American champion, and multiple-time British National champion.

Ms Ballas is also an ambassador for several charities, including Macmillan Cancer Support, CALM and RSPCA.

The 360Wire-backed campaign aims to raise £1,000 for 10 autistic children to meet a support dog, secure 15 sponsors for autism assistance dog Peggy, and have 10 people register interest as puppy socialisers.
