Sheffield Mecca Bingo Hosts Pawsome Bingo Event for Support Dogs

A bingo event to raise funds and secure volunteer sign-ups for Support Dogs is taking place next week.

Bark & Bingo, planned for Saturday 6 December and hosted by Mecca Bingo Sheffield, is part of Paws for a Cause’ campaign to help tackle the growing waiting list at the charity.

Wesley Liddell, General Manager at Mecca Bingo, said: “Local people in our community rely on their support dogs for daily activities and these canine companions really do give people a chance to enjoy life to the fullest.”

Attendees will play a game of group bingo, with each team named after a support dog and using printed pictures of them as mascots.

Flyers will also be distributed on tables and in bingo-books to raise awareness, with 50% of the prize money going directly to the charity.

He added: “I’d encourage everyone to help this amazing cause as it really does change lives for the better and they’re doing it on our doorstep.”

Over 200 people will be in attendance at the event, which will begin at 11am and run through until 5pm.

A stall will be set up at the entrance of the venue with a donation pot and QR codes encouraging community involvement.

The 360Wire-backed campaign aims to raise £1,000 for 10 autistic children to meet a support dog, secure 15 sponsors for autism assistance dog Peggy, and recruit 10 puppy socialisers.
