A week of dog-themed pub quizzes across Sheffield to raise funds for Support Dogs has come to an end.
In total, the quizzes raised over £416 for the Sheffield-based charity, which provides life-changing support to adults with epilepsy and physical disabilities, as well as autistic children.
Sam Howse, manager at The Waggon and Horses, said: “Support Dogs directly change lives, their training can provide someone with the confidence to do everyday tasks, which may have been a challenge without.
“As a pub located in the park, we welcome plenty of dogs every day, so incorporating this fundraiser into our quiz was a no-brainer.”

Pup Quiz Week ran from 17 to 20 November, with events held at The Stags Head, The Waggon and Horses, Dog and Partridge, The Alder Bar, Raven Inn, and Fox and Duck.
Dog and Partridge raised the most, £158, with four attendees also agreeing to sponsor autism assistance dog Peggy, bringing the campaign closer to its goals.
Conor Smith, pub owner at the Dog and Partridge, said: “Charities like Support Dogs just embody what Sheffield is about, we’ve always been big fans of dogs, and Sheffield is just such a friendly and inclusive city.”
The charity is currently facing a waiting list crisis and is in urgent need of funds and volunteers.
Funds will go towards addressing the growing list to ensure those in need receive the support they deserve.
Frankie Rouse, an attendee at Fox and Duck, said: “These dogs can absolutely be life-changing. I really encourage everyone to do what they can to help. Everybody deserves to live a happy life, and everybody deserves support.”

The week-long event was part of the 360Wire-backed Paws for a Cause campaign, which aims to raise £1,000 for 10 autistic children to meet a support dog, secure 15 sponsors for autism assistance dog Peggy, and have 10 people register interest as puppy socialisers.
Katie Williamson, Fundraising Assistant at Support Dogs, said: “We’re so delighted to see the wonderful engagement and kind donations from attendees at Paws for Cause’s Pup-Quiz Week. Support Dogs relies entirely on voluntary donations, so events like this are a really important way for us to raise funds and spread awareness about our charity’s work.”
She added: “Thank you so much to Paws for a Cause and everyone who went along to the quizzes for supporting our charity and raising such an incredible amount of money!”
