BAFTA-honoured presenter, broadcaster and charity campaigner Lorraine Kelly has backed Paws for a Cause, a campaign supporting the charity Support Dogs.
Ms Kelly, one of the UK’s best-known daytime presenters, said the bond between people and dogs is ‘incredibly special and deeply meaningful.’
She said: “I’m absolutely delighted to support the Paws for a Cause campaign. Dogs bring so much happiness and comfort into our lives, they’re loyal, loving companions who lift our spirits every single day.
“The difference a support dog can make is truly life-changing, offering friendship, confidence and calm in moments of uncertainty. I’m proud to stand behind a campaign that celebrates the kindness and connection dogs bring to us all.”
Ms Kelly received a BAFTA Television Special Award in 2024 for her “outstanding contribution” to broadcasting, one of BAFTA’s highest honours.
She was appointed OBE in 2012 for services to charity and the armed forces and later awarded a CBE in 2020 for services to broadcasting, journalism and charity.
Her long-standing charitable support includes organisations such as Help for Heroes, the STV Children’s Appeal, and Dogs Trust, reflecting her commitment to both community and animal welfare.
A devoted dog lover, she often shares stories about her border terrier Angus, who has become a well-loved figure among her viewers.
She has spoken openly about the joy, comfort and emotional stability Angus has brought to her, especially during difficult or uncertain moments.
Ms Kelly said: “I know from my own dog, Angus, just how much a four-legged friend can mean in the family.
“This wonderful initiative highlights just how special that bond is, particularly for autistic children and their families.”
The 360Wire-backed campaign aims to raise £1,000 for 10 autistic children to meet a support dog, secure 15 sponsors for autism assistance dog Peggy, and recruit 10 puppy socialisers
