Final Pup Quiz raises funds for Support Dogs

The final night of Pup Quiz Week took place yesterday, wrapping up Paws for a Cause’ citywide event in aid of Support Dogs.

The quiz, hosted by Fox&Duck on 20 November, raised £88 for the charity, which will go directly toward the provision of autism, seizure-alert, and disability assistance dogs.

Richard Warren, Quizmaster, said: “It’s important to raise awareness for anything that makes a massive impact on people’s lives, events like these are great for giving people a chance to learn about things they might not even be aware of.

“A lot of people come to pubs, it’s a massive establishment, students or people of any age enjoy it, so hosting this quiz and being able to put that to the masses is a great opportunity, it’s always amazing to help a good cause.”

The pub agreed to charge 1 pound for entry to the quiz, which featured dog-themed trivia and gave those involved the opportunity to win a £40 bar tab.

A donation bucket and QR code linking to the campaign GoFundMe was also placed out to encourage additional contributions.

Jess Brandão, an attendee, said “I think people really itch for a community, they love to be social and come together, and when it comes to something like a charity event people are always willing to give.

“If I’m out at a pub, I’m going to be spending a couple of pounds anyway, so I’m always happy to give a couple of quid to charity.”

Support Dogs is currently facing a waiting list crisis and requires resources, including funds, to continue providing support to those who need it most.

Paws for a Cause aims to raise £1000 for 10 kids with autism to meet their support dogs, secure 10 puppy socialisers, and get 15 people to sponsor Peggy.

Frankie Rouse, an attendee, said: “These dogs can absolutely be life-changing, I really encourage everyone to do what they can. Everybody deserves to live a happy life and everybody deserves support.”
