A pub quiz was hosted last night to raise funds for Support Dogs, kicking off Paws for a Cause’s citywide Pup Quiz Week.
The quiz, held at The Waggon & Horses on 17 November, featured dog-themed trivia questions and picture rounds.
Sam Howse, manager at The Waggon & Horses, said: “Support Dogs directly change lives, their training can provide someone with the confidence to do everyday tasks, which may have been a challenge without.
“As a pub located in the park, we welcome plenty of dogs every day, so incorporating this fundraiser into our quiz was a no-brainer.”

A £1 entry fee was introduced, alongside QR codes placed on each table for people to scan and give, with all proceeds going directly to the charity.
A donation tin was also placed out to encourage contributions, alongside informative flyers supplied to raise awareness of Support Dogs’ work.
Joe Colleyshore, pub quiz master, said: “This is a very important cause; we’ve provided materials to encourage people to donate, and we’re happy knowing some money from tonight will go directly to the charity, which offers essential services.”
Support Dogs is currently facing a waiting list crisis, with demand exceeding resources, and is in urgent need of funds.

The quiz raised £50 for the charity, which will go toward the training and provision of autism, seizure-alert, and disability assistance dogs.
Over the next few weeks, Paws for a Cause aims to tackle the growing list by raising £1,000 for 10 children with autism to meet their support dogs, securing 10 puppy socialisers, and getting 15 people to sponsor autism assistance dog Peggy.
Shubana Nawaz, an attendee, said: “I loved the quiz, I really enjoyed answering the questions. Times are hard, and all charities are struggling, so the more we can do, the better. It’s for a good cause, and events like this make helping more accessible and enjoyable.
“I’d encourage anyone thinking about coming to a quiz later this week to take part if they can; it’s definitely worthwhile, but you don’t have to attend a quiz to support the charity – there are so many ways to contribute.”

More pup quizzes will take place throughout Sheffield this week.
