The family of a man who died in a collision in Scarborough have paid tribute, as North Yorkshire Police continue to appeal for witnesses.

Nick Alves, 38, from Scarborough, was pronounced dead at the scene following a single-vehicle collision on Scalby Road.

His family said: “We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved son, dad, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, and friend. We simply cannot imagine life without Nick in it.

“Nick joined the Navy straight after leaving school and travelled the world, meeting incredible people and experiencing amazing places. After leaving the Navy, he settled in Scarborough to be close to his family.

“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to those who helped and stayed with Nick so that he was not alone in his final moments. Words cannot describe how much that kindness meant to us.”
