BAFTA-nominated presenter, adventurer and Sunday Times bestselling author Ben Fogle has backed Paws for a Cause, a campaign supporting the charity Support Dogs.
Mr Fogle, one of the UK’s best-known presenters of travel and wildlife programming, said the bond between people and dogs is one of the most meaningful and dependable relationships many individuals will experience.
He said: “With their highly sophisticated senses, they pick up on our emotions. In times of uncertainty, they are our constant.
“The incredible and inspiring charity Support Dogs helps dogs to help people living with autism, epilepsy and disabilities to live more independent, confident lives.”
Mr Fogle has spent more than two decades championing the emotional, social and environmental value of connecting with the natural world, through programmes including Animal Park and New Lives in the Wild.
He is currently touring with his live stage show Ben Fogle: Wild, in which he recounts thrilling stories of his wilderness adventures and shares how his encounters with people and animals have shaped his life.
Mr Fogle has spoken openly about resilience, mental well-being and the support he has drawn from his relationships with his dogs throughout his life.
He said: “In times of difficulty, dogs have been my sanity and my saviour. In times of chaos, dogs have been my therapist and my guardian.
“On every level, dogs offer hope, comfort and a sense of purpose.”
Mr Fogle’s previous dog, Inca, accompanied him on expeditions across deserts, mountains and remote islands. He now describes his current dogs, Storm and Swift, as vital companions in everyday life, particularly during periods of reflection and recovery.

He added: “One in four of the dogs Support Dogs train are from rescue centres or unwanted pets. There are many dogs out there with huge potential to become support dogs.
“So not only do they help people live their best lives, but they are also champions for dogs who need a second chance.”
The 360Wire-backed campaign aims to raise £1,000 for 10 autistic children to meet a support dog, secure 15 sponsors for autism assistance dog Peggy, and have 10 people register interest as puppy socialisers.
