Thieves target Sherburn in early morning burglary spree for car keys

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for information following a series of linked burglaries across multiple sites on Thursday 13 November 2025 in Sherburn, Elmet.

Reports suggest the unknown suspects carried out the crime between 1am and 5am, breaking into numerous properties via the rear patio doors in search for vehicle keys.

Police are now warning the community to never leave their car keys near windows or doors where someone could see or reach them, and to always keep windows and doors locked at night.

They also advise installing CCTV, an intruder alarm and security lighting, as well as reporting anything suspicious to them.
