Another man jailed for violent disorder in connection with last year’s Harehills disorder
15 November 2025

A Leeds man has become the 32nd person to be convicted of their role in the Harehills riot last year.

Ady Barbu, 20, Bellebrooke Avenue was jailed at Leeds Crown Court yesterday (Friday 14 November) after being found guilty of violent disorder, and was jailed for 14 months.

Tensions rose in Harehills last year after four children were removed from a house by social workers and police for safeguarding concerns. As a result, a riot started with a double decker bus being set on fire, and a police car overturned.

Officers from the Homicide and Major Enquiries Team have made 87 arrests with 43 people charged so far in connection with the incident.

Appeals are still ongoing to identify people involved with the offending, with more suspects continuing to be identified.

Substantial work has been carried out to restore Harehills since last July to help communities recover from the disorder.
