Art Exhibition: “Cost of Truth” Brings Voices From Ukraine and Hong Kong to Sheffield
14 November 2025

A new exhibition exploring resistance, identity, and the fight for freedom has opened at C&G Apartment on Holme Lane, bringing the lived experiences of Ukrainian and Hong Kong artists to Sheffield.

“Cost of Truth” runs from 13-29 November (Wednesday to Saturday), offering visitors an immersive experience that explores how artists from two regions marked by political turmoil and conflict use creativity as a form of testimony.

The exhibition opened on Thursday evening with an artist-sharing session, featuring artworks from Ukrainian artist Kostiantyn Kozlov and Olesia Miftakhova, as well as Shrimp, a Hong Kong artist and former political prisoner whose works reflect the emotional and physical realities of resistance.

One of the exhibition’s centrepieces is “The Other Side”, an immersive installation created in 2024 by Miftakhova and Kozlov.

The piece invites visitors to symbolically step “through the door” into the lived experience of the struggle for freedom.
