Two taxi drivers have lost their licenses and been fined for refusing service to a disabled passenger with a guide dog.
The drivers both appeared in Bradford Magistrates’ Court on 31 October 2025 in separate cases initiated by Bradford Council.
In both cases, the court was shown video footage of the drivers, working for Uber, refusing to allow a woman and her guide dog into their vehicle before subsequently cancelling the service and driving off.
Mohammed Zubair, 47, and Muhammad Faisal, 34, both pleaded guilty and had their licences removed, as well as being fined over £600 each.
Zubair had been called to pick up a passenger from Smithy Carr Lane in Brighouse on 14 June and take her to hospital.
The woman who booked the Uber filmed the interaction, which was played in court, showing her telling Zubair he had to take the assistance dog.
He cancelled the journey and left the passenger, despite being repeatedly told it was against the law to refuse their transport.
Zubair, of Dickens Street, Bradford, pleaded guilty to refusing to carry out a booking for a disabled person accompanied by an assistance dog and was fined £90 and ordered to pay £500 in costs and a £36 surcharge.
In the second case, Faisal was seen on a video shown to court from 13 June telling the disabled passenger she would need to book an Uber Pet if she wanted her guide dog to be transported.
Waseem Raja, prosecuting the case on behalf of Bradford Council, said: “”He left the woman standing in the road. He refused to transport her and said he would cancel the job despite being told he could not do that.”
Faisal, 34, of Horton Park Avenue was fined £80 and ordered to pay £500 costs and a £32 surcharge.
