A man in his seventies has died following small plane crash at Sherburn Aero Club, near Leeds, on Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened just before 1pm on Sunday 2 November when a small plane is believed to have crashed landed on the runway.

Emergency services attended the scene quickly but unfortunately the pilot, a man in his seventies, was pronounced dead at the scene. He is believed to have been the sole passenger.

Police are currently guarding the scene and the Air Accident Investigation Branch has been made aware.
