Police in Doncaster seized more than £600,000 worth of cannabis after uncovering two large-scale drug farms hidden inside terraced houses.
Officers from Doncaster Central Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) carried out a series of coordinated raids last week, supported by Home Office Immigration Enforcement Teams, targeting properties in the Nether Hall Road area.
Inside one house, officers discovered a major cannabis harm spread over five rooms, including the cellar, loft, bedrooms and a bathroom.
A second nearby property also contained a similar set-up, where a 46-year-old man was arrested and later charged with producing cannabis.
He has since been remanded in custody ahead of his next appearance at Sheffield Crown Court next month.
Sergeant Maw, from Doncaster Central NpT, said the cannabis factories posed a serious safety risk to nearby residents.
He said: “This is a huge hazard to neighbouring properties and local communities and upon discovering this, we notified the Electricity Board who have since made both addresses safe.”
The raid, executed on Tuesday (21 October), form part of an ongoing crackdown on organised drug crime in Doncaster.
In the past month alone, police have seized over £1 million worth of cannabis from five separate addresses across the city.
The South Yorkshire Police are urging residents to report any signs of suspicious activity or suspected drug production.
