A fatal traffic collision near Harrogate has left one person dead, Police have announced.

The collision occurred on Pot Bank near Beckwithshaw at approximately 10pm last night (Friday 24th October).

The incident involved a blue Citroen C2 car which left the road and collided with a tree. Sadly, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, they were the only occupant in the car.

The road remained closed until 5am this morning (Saturday 25 October) to allow for the police investigation to take place.
