A Remembrance Sunday service on Sunday 9 November will be held in Barnsley, which will include a parade and wreath-laying ceremony.

Starting at 11am at the Town Hall war memorial, the council invites the community to come together to honour veterans and those who lost their lives in service.

Cllr David James Leech, Mayor of Barnsley, said: “Remembrance Sunday is a deeply significant occasion, giving us time to come together as a community and honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us.

”The service on Sunday 9 November is open to all, and we invite you to join us as we pay our respects and reflect on the courage and sacrifice of those who served.”

The council asks for anyone wanting to lay a wreath at the ceremony, to register ahead with the Mayor’s Office, no later than Wednesday 5 November.
