Yorkshire Marathon 2025 is just hours away: road closures and transport updates

Yorkshire Marathon 2025 is gearing up for over 10,000 runners to take to the streets of York tomorrow morning. 

Setting off at 9.30am, participants will have up to seven hours to complete the course. 

A shorter 10 mile run and wheelchair event will also take place, both starting at 10.15am, with a three hour time limit for entrants.

The event is in its 12th year and covers 26.2 miles in and around York, organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All. 

Due to the event, some roads in and around the city will be closed as follows:

From 6am: Church Balk, Church Street, Eastfield Lane, Stockhill Close, Green Dykes Lane, Heslington Lane and Main Street. 

From 8am: Hull Road, Lawrence Street, Parliament Street, Coney Street, Blake Street and Monkgate. 

From 8.30am: A1036 Heworth Green, Stockton Lane, Sandy Lane, Common Lane, Northgate Lane, Upper Helmsley and Buttercrambe Moor Road.

First Bus routes 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, U1 and U2 will follow planned diversions. 

As well as 747, X46 and X47 for East Yorkshire Buses.
